Maṅgala's fiercest strength is found in the sign belonging to his classical rival — a detail the tradition never smoothed over. He is Bhauma, son of the Earth herself: not aggression for its own sake, but a son's fierce, protective devotion to what is his, extended outward into every domain the tradition assigns him.

Śukrācārya's own story is about something harder — what a teacher owes the side he has chosen, even when he can see exactly how it will cost him. He lost an eye trying to stop his student from a promise he could see would cost him everything.

No graha carries more fear than Saturn, and almost none of that fear comes from the source material. Śani holds the title Nyāyādhīśa — the Judge. He does not create the case against you. He only rules on the evidence you already provided.

Rāhu has no body in the myths that describe him — a hunger with nothing left to satisfy it, and nothing left to stop it either. He achieved immortality and it left him a severed head with nothing to attach it to: the most precise image of what it feels like to get exactly what you wanted through the wrong door.

The Body That Let the Prize Go

Ketu received the same nectar Rāhu did, and it is the body — the part with nothing left to gain from it — that the tradition made the kāraka for liberation. He is what remains when the object of desire has been removed from the equation entirely.
